An electrostatic precipitator (ESP) is a filtration device that removes fine particles, like dust and smoke, from a flowing gas using the force of an induced electrostatic charge minimally impeding the flow of gases through the unit.     In contrast to wet scrubbers which apply energy directly to the flowing fluid medium, an ESP applies energy only to the particulate matter being collected and therefore is very efficient in its consumption of energy (in the form of electricity). High efficiency filtration of mist and fumes is dominated by electrostatic precipitation (ESP) technology. The ATOM ESP models uses simple mechanism filtration to provide consistent exhaust cleaning down to 0.3 micron with at least 95% efficiency and higher. It really is as simple as that.

Electrostatic precipitation applies some clever science and 10,000 V to coax grease particles to deposit themselves onto metal plates. Grease and smoke will stick to collection cells without wasting expensive replecement filters. The smell of cooking will be removed as well as increased fire hazard.

Q. What amount of energy is used to electrically charge the grease?

Energy consumption is very low, around 100 W for every 3 000 CMH. In addition reduced pressure drop will provide big savings on energy bill.

Q. What happens when the plates get covered in grease?

Most of the grease will flow to the drain. However, there are equired cleaning of the collection cells from time to time.

Q. Is cleaning the plates costly?
A. No. You can use one of our partner service companies or clean it yourself. The degreaser used is inexpensive, or you can get one of our Vibration Cleaning Tanks to solve that problem.
Q. Are there additional costs of operation?
A. No. Our models provide savings on operation cost compering to media filter technology.
